SURFING IN HAWAII

history

The home of world-class surfing is here in Hawaii. From the months of October to March, the islands receive huge waves coming from the Pacific Ocean. Surfing in Hawaii is part of the Polynesian culture. Originally a sport reserved for royalty, it is now being enjoyed by a lot of people here in Hawaii.

Every island receives its fair share of excellent waves but the most interesting place to surf is in North Shore in the island of Oahu. It is in this area of Hawaii that the waves and the pipelines are formed for perfect conditions of surfing. Many International surfing competitions are held here. Home of the big surfs, you are a world-class surfer if you have made it to North Shore.

If you want to avoid the huge crowds then there are other prime locations aside from North Shore to surf in. In Oahu for example, the other side of the island has perfect 3-8 foot waves and the crowd is not that many.

For beginners, you may want to check out the surfing activities in the island of Kauai. This island receives great waves all year round that could easily be handled by beginners. During the winter months though the waves on this island could get rough and are best handled by the experts.

If you plan to take a surfing vacation in Hawaii you would definitely enjoy the experience may you be a beginner or professional.
